Matt and Wilber's trip to Swindon...
Matthew and I left Taunton this morning at 8am (or just after that actually!)..travelling to Th Wiltshire Golf and Country club... We made good time and reached our destination just after 9.30. On arrival we were shown the basic course layout by the course manager...we couldn't decide where he was from...it was either Swansea...or Karachi...? Confused accent but very nice guy! He let us know that the course was a little confusing as the 18 hole and the 9 hole course run side by side! I had a cup of tea and Matt had an orange before we set off for Day 4! It was somewhat overcast but still very mild... later in the day that mildness turned to Muggy! To start with I couldn't hit a ball...I think I thought I was not on the golf course and maybe on beach playing frisbee! Nothing was working for me...therfore i got grumpy...and then more grumpy until the 3rd when I actually managed to string more than one good shot together! Matt on the other hand was like a pup with two tails! Playing more than steady golf...parring the first two holes and getting no less than 2 Stableford points on the front nine!things did turn for me...getting a little bit more consistent!the back nine the form changed a bit...Matt belives everytime he has a good front nine...the back nine lets him down! It didn't really let him down as it was just the odd shot here and there...and one mighty bit of luck! He hits tyhe ball into a hedge from his drive...walks up to it and sees that it is GUR (Ground Under Repair) meaning that he still needed to find his ball...only then sees a sign saying that he is prevented from looking for his ball as was a nature corridor and he would be upsetting the Bluebells!!! Lucky Bugger!meanwhile I was driving the ball up the wrong fairway!!!All very fun stuff...
Matt's shot of the day was a 170 yard 3 wood into the 17th green! left it 10yards from the pin!!Missed the putt though!!!!
My shot of the day was when I woke up halfway down the 18th fairway! a 190 yard five iron to middle of green!!!!guess what?.....I missed the put!
Matt won the the 1st 9 and I won the 2nd 9...but he won the 1st nine by a LOT more!
After the game we had a spot of lunch and the golf pro took a photograph of us by our car...apparently will be in the Swindon Evening Advertiser!!!
We are currently in Steve Gotting's office in Fleet...gonna go for a curry and a pint and get ready to join Ben gotting and Ayoola Erinle tomorrow at North Hants Golf Club!!! Oh...and Matt of course!!!
Take care everyone!

Ammendment ...

Day 2 and 3...Devon and Dorset.

The weather has continued to amaze me! I think whoever it is that plans the weather..(blatantly the government) is lulling me into a falso sense of security and when I get up north I'll get blown away by a hurricane...when I work out how to put photos up on this site you will be able to see for yourself!
I played Elfordleigh on Sunday, a lovely little course that uses there limited space(due to it being in a valley) very well. I had a more steady round than in Cornwall. Departments of my game never seem to work at all at the same time! My unconscious decided that It would be my tee shots on sunday. My touch around the green was better and solid on the dancefloor! unfortunately no Eagles to brag about today...just as well because if I had you blokes wouldn't believe me!there was nobody to verify it! In fact I could have been sat on a Beach in North Devon sunning myself for all you guys knew! (joking of course)!
In the Evening I went back vis mum's to pick up video camera and then made the 50 minute journey to Sherborne in preperation for Sherborne City Golf Club... I was due to play on my own however Tim Budd, who I stayed with last night was off work due to the school holidays so it was an unexpected pleasure to have his company. I know I keep going on about the weather but I really have been so lucky! Sherborne is an Interesting course... A much easier walk than Elfordleigh...with a funny yellow tint to the greens. The greens were particularly annoying as they looked like there should be a break however actually there wasn't so slightly difficult to read putts. The rest of the course was in good nick considering they have had a bad winter down there. The average age of the other people on the course must have been about 70...there was a pensioner tournament going on which we got stuck in the middle of!needless to say we to an age to get round! Again, an intresting blend of wayward tee shots and unforgiving bunkers (very well/badly placed depending on how well your round was going!) The signature hole which was the 15th was a pleasure to play. 167 yrd Par 3 playing over a gully to the green. The tee shot is very sheltered so the wind affects the ball about 40yrd into flight!Apparently I was lucky as they actually close that particular hole for the winter months and was reopened just last week!!!they knew i was coming! Fun round of golf...and on the next...I am currently at my mother's house again as the travelling time from Dorset to Wiltshire, which is my next leg, is the same as it is from Taunton to Wiltshire...Killing two birds with one stone because I can also pick Matt up from Taunton who is joining me until Buckinghamshire...by the way I am taking bets to see how much weight he loses...that does depend on if we can discover any cheap off licnece deals on our travels...moment on the lips Matty!
Anyway I will go now and relax before my journeys continue! A Bath is in order as well as a shave I think...I'm looking a bit like Tom Hanks in Cast Away...just with a golf ball intstead!
Lot of Love everyone! Please call me in the evenings!!I'm playing golf during the day!!!!

Day one in sunny but very windy Kernow...
I have just returned from my first day of my golfing marathon. We aere at Whitsand Bay Golf Club in Cornwall...the weather forecasters were proved correct in that there were high winds due! Today I played with Chris Mogg, Andrew Fraser and Matt Bettridge all good buddies of mine.
The round started with our waterproofs on as when we were enjoying our pre match cup of tea the weather couldn't quite make up its mind so preventative measures were in order...Matt and I discovered that we were actually sponsored by Dunlop as we had the same set of All weather gear...with Andrew being the butt of the joke in a flimsy Regatta Cagoole!!!
The rain came down and the wind blew at the third hole where we were struggling to keep our balls still whilst putting due to the ferocious wind!
more eventfulness at the 6th where the way the hole was positioned in conjunction with where the sea(Cliffs) were situated meant that all four of us struggled to keep our balls on terra firma! it didn't dampened our mood as the sun was now coming out!
At the turn (holes 8,9 and 10) my putting ability disappeared and I got grumpy for a while!!!happens sometime in every round of golf! But later on the 14th this grumpyness was alleviated when after a straight tee shot I managed to chip for a 2 at a par 4...the highlight of my golfing career to date...unfortunately Andrew and Chris were looking for their balls so Matt was the only one who saw!needless to say there were some ribbing at lunch as to how many ways i could have faked the shot...!
Matt was playing steady, solid golf all day. Chris was struggling off the tee and andrew at his mecurial best! All adding up to a very fun and entertaining but (most importantly) dry game of golf...a cracking course to get me on my way! however tomorrow is another day so who knows what that will bring!!!
Thanks for reading this...I will be back tomorrow with more updates!!!
Lots of love and fundraising

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
In January 2008 I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Having this disease has changed my life forever, in good and bad ways. The money that we can raise through this challenge can help change, not only the way people are treated, but also to try and find out what actually causes this type of cancer. When I was diagnosed, I asked why? The doctors who were treating me couldn't tell me, but merely speculate as to why. Those doctors in question however, have given me a second chance in life. This is my way of letting them give whoever else is unlucky enough to get this blood disorder a second chance.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
