Legs, ankles, back, face, nose, knee caps and feet all HURT!

Hi everyone...sorry I havn't been updating to 0ften it has been hard to get to a internet computer and I have been fairly short of time in the last few days as I have been teeing off a bit later...this should however have given me more time in the morning I hear you say!you are right but I am really starting to feel the pinch! Getting up in the morning is very hard work as my eyes feel like they have leadweights on them! Anyhoo... I will soldier on best I can!

Since I last spoke to you I have been to Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire...and whatever I was doing there I wasn't playing golf!! Don't get me wrong, I had a golf ball and a golf club (or whacker as I'm starting to call it!) I was standing in a field with Sandy scratchpatch and Susie Downslope (people we met along the way!) ...but my ability to hit a ball has dissapeared! With hindsight I actually am playing better than I was at the beginning of the tour but having gone through a good vain of form these things happen!I just hope I can put in at least one good round before the tour is out!

There is actually only 3 days left! I can't believe it...it really has gone so fast, especially the last week! I need to a big thanks to some people who I have been with over the last few days................................

Thanks to Gus and Moggy for not joining me in the Boff Tank joining me over the weekend at Hawstone Park and Burghill Valley...To Christian and Matt for playing (and Brethren Tom for walking) the Belfry with me...To John and Jackie in Cheltenham for putting me, Gus and Moggy up when they already had a dinner party to host! Thanks to Katy for taking us off John and Jackie's hands and showing us J's (the smallest nightclub in the world!!! For those of you that have been to my Mother's house....they are about the same size!!! Thanks again to Lynne and Mac for putting me up...again! Thanks to Chris Pennel and Will Bowley for joining me at the Worcester Golf and Country Club on Monday...they both play for the Worcester Warriors and Chris (currently recovering from his ACL (Arterial Cruciate Ligament) surgery...played on one leg!!!amazing! Both nice fella's and I think they are going to try and sort out a signed Warriors shirt for my auction! Thanks to Suzanne Simms and Jane Bidding...two ladies I played with yesterday in Oxfordshire..I take back all the backhanded comments regarding Golfers from the fairer sex as these two were very good golfers and very nice with it! Jane actually plays off 1 or 2 and is playing a comp in Enmore in August so I offered my services as a caddy and she accepted so that will be fun! All I need to do is grow a moustache, put some weight on and get a boiler suit! To Katy (KAT) Malseed in Oxford...I got in touch with her very late on wednesday and she very happily put me up in Hertford College Oxford...didn't think they existed but there are actually students that sit around talking about Mr Obama using all sorts of long a fancy words like "conservative" and"elixir"...I shouldn't laugh but for those of us that went to a stupid persons university and wonder what it's like to be at Oxford...there it is! I am of course joking...Kat my little Cousin once removed I think is lovely! I havn't seen her for some time and she has turned into a very outgoing and charming tequila drinking person (the best bit..she likes tequila!!!)! I have offered her a place to stay in Surbiton should she and her friends want to go out in Laaaandan! So I look forward to repaying the favour...

I am currently in Fleet about to start getting ready for day 34 in Berkshire...I was due to be playing on my own today however Steve Gotting has a golfer friend called Derek Olsen who by amazing coincidence is also playing at East Berks today so I will rock up a bit early and see if i can join them!

For those of you that worry...Mum and Johanna mainly...The title of blog isn't that true...trying to recreate dad's (OBSG).............. Over Active Bull Shit Gland! I'm fine a little tired but nothing that a long lay in won't fix!

Bakc to the BT!

Lots of Love

Someone has read this blog in Catania...

Can you believe it...it really is the world wide web. Most of the destinations I can account for but that one... thanks for all spreading the word. Keep doing it though I'm still working hard so keep spreading hard!!! I want someone in India to read it!

Cheers

Getting Brocton Halled...

Hello everyone...me again!

Just played my Staffordshire leg today at Brocton Hall Golf Club. Today I had the pleasure of some company in the form of Mac Jinks who I satyed with last night and I am also staying with tonight!!! Lynn and Mac have been great in making me feel very at home and relaxed..we have just had some lovely fish and chips from Tamworth and are now going to watch some easy watching television!

The golf is getting hard now..the last few days had been really hard work. Most probably because I have not been playing so well but i have felt very tired and lethargic! I personally blame too much sleep on that I have been to bed before midnight for the last three nights, which for anybody that knows me is very unusual! So tonight I'm gonna get wasted!!!! only joking I think I'm playing golf in the morning... No all that will have to wait until the end ro maybe KLR on thursday!!!! I do miss Surbiton you know...never thought I'd say that but I do...and most of all I miss my Piano!!! I haven't touched a piano in a month now and even when I asked at the hotel I stayed in on wednesday if I could tinckle their ivories I think they thought I was joking!!!what do you do to taken seriously Oop Naarf!

Anyway that is soon to be corrected as I only have 8 more golf courses to play, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset!....and breath...

I am being joined by Moggy and Gus tomorrow at Hawkstone Park in Shropshire and then going to visit the Gottings in Gloucestershire, that's the John and Jackie variety of Gottings! Let's hope the golf is a bit more fruitful tomorrow! I am getting an early night as Gus and Moggy have got a date with and ass whipper tomorrow!...(that's me trying to be hip and saying that I'm going to beat them!) forgot I'm not 12 anymore. Take care everyone!!!!

A selection..these range from Beds to Cheshire and all that is in between...

Lanacashire and Cheshire...

Hello everybody...I am currently in Tamworth near Birmingham staying with Mac and Lynn and just had a lovely jacket potato with salad! I have been playing in the North West for the last few days...firstly in Preston and then in peover Golf Club in Cheshire. they were both exellent courses however I feel suited more to someone that knows the course. A lot of the tee shots had dog legs and it wasn't until one reached their ball that I new where I was going! A little frustrating when they pay so much deatil to signs saying "please be careful when crossing bridge?" I think that order is fairly self explanatory however not knowing where to hit your ball is slightly more important! I played both days on my own which if I'm honest is getting a little tiring...It is hard to motivate yourself when its just me so I am gratful to Mac who is going to play with me tomorrow and then Gus and Moggy are going to join me for Shropshire and Herefordshire which is good. They are both old college chums so will be good to have their company!

I want to say a massive thanks to Kim Pugh who is the Marketing Assistant for English Lakes Hotels...she has put me up for 3 nights in two of ELH's hotels...she has been great and supportive which was a great pleasure when otyher than her I didn't know anybody from the Lake District! So thanks Kim. Also one more thing about Kim is that she has also lost two people to Leukaemia quite recently and some of her friends are cycling from Trafalgar Square in London to Kendal..where I believe the mint cake is from?... to raise money. I don't know the exact details but when I do I will post them on here. I would love to join them in cycling but I think they leave before the end of my golf tour so I wish them all the luck in the world for that!

The weather has still been very fair..today was sunny with cloudy patches but I'm fully aware that there are still 9 days of golf left so enough time to get the waterproofs out again!

I will now post some more photos...

I'm not sure where I am staying tomorrow night as i am playing in Shorpshire on saturday...I think the nature of my trip requires that I spend at least one night in my car!!! so it might be a crazy night in for Wilber on friday night!!!

Hope you like the pics!

I'm moving to Cumbria...

Hello again! I seee I have managed to do 21 posts in April...one a day is quite good for me! I can't be long as on pay as you go internet AGAIN! I had a lovely day at Windermere golf club...I will tell you more when I get more time on the Internet...I was greeted at the goolf club by Kim Pugh and Rob...sorry mate didn't catch your surname!!! As they both work for English Lakes Hotels who have kindly put me up for two nights! they took some pics of Kim and I on the 1st tee and then one of me Teeing off! I normally suffer from 1st tee nerves however today I didn't as I crushed my drive! Problems off the tee are no more and I shot 76 on a par 67 which is definately my best round yet! after and 90 yesterday it was good to score well again!!

I must go because my £1 for ten minutes is runnning out fast! and need to find out Postcode for Preston Golf Club...apologies for being uncontactable for the last 24 hours there is very little signal in this part of the world and I really do like it up here! tres belle!

Speak tomorrow folks

Lots of love slices and hooks

Sunny Windermere...

I am sat in probably the most picturesque part of England I have ever been... I am staying in a room donated by the English Lakes Hotels and Kim Pugh. I have free access to the leisure facilities and am currently supping on an orange juice and lemonade! I feel very lucky and only wish I could share this with someone...I would recommend this as holiday destination definately!

As for the golf...this morning I tee'd off in Bellingham Golf Club in Northumberland at 8am...it was an early start but got there in good time and as they were hollow coring the greens today I got round without delay! All was well with golf shooting an 83 on a par 69...a very good course with every hole being different and plenty of blind tee shots! My issues off the tee seem to be resolved and all parts of my game seem to working fairly well which is pleasing! Jamie and Di at Bellingham were very supportive and embarced the whole fundraiser really well which was nice! I hope it will be the same tomorrow at Windermere Golf Club...

I have just enjoyed a swim and a session in the hot tub which actually overlooks Lake Windermere...really a fantastic sight! I am on a pay by use internet so can't be long...all is well thanks to everyone that has been donating and apologies for my little rant a couple of blogs ago! All for a good cause!

I hope all is well with whatever you are doing...not being too stressed with everyday things!Don't because life is too short to stress...that is my new motto/credo...

Take care everyone and I will check in tomorrow!

Lots of smooches....

FA cup semi final day and all that brings with it!!!!!

Good evening to you all...

I am writing this from Blagdon at the Small's house in Newcastle! The weather up here today had just been brilliant! I left Northallerton at 10am in preperation for Durham City Golf Club. I was booked in to play at 12noon however there was a local competition on and the golf pro asked if I could tee off at a later time. They were donating the game so I could only say yes and went to see Ange and Ringo Small in Newcastle for lunch before returning to the golf club for round 23. Infortunately the later tee off time coincided with the FA cup semi final between Manchester United and my beloved Everton Football Club! Teeing off at 3.30 meant that I would definately miss the entire game! I finished my round and overheard some people on the putting green saying that the game had gone into extra time...to my suprise Man Utd hadn't managed to to score against the mighty toffees in normal time and I manged to watch the last 5 minutes of extra time. To my everlasting suprise Everton manged to beat the best side in the world on penalties... and it really made my day! I played really well at golf...the toffees won and the sun was shining!I don't really expect that much more out of life!!!!

I want to say a big thank you to Angela and Ringo Small for putting me up...I have just eaten the most wondeful dinner and a few glasses of wine and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening! I have a very early start tomorrow...teeing off at 8am in Bellingham Golf Club which means a 0600 wake up (and what does the 0 stand for?.....Oh my god it's early!) so I think the bes thing for me now is to have a cuppa and head off to bed. Thanks to all who have donated so far...time, money, beds, dinners, tea and company..It really means a lot...this is such a longwinded tour and seems to be taking for ever(I am really enjoying it however) but is nice to look on the JustGiving Site and seeing all the nice messages from people...it really spurs me on. I think these next few rounds are going to be the hardest yet as I will be in Cumbria all on my todd...I am looking forward to my mates joining me in Shropshire and The Belfry!

P.S I need a bed in Staffordhsire somewhere If anybody knows of anyone please let me know...I've managed to go 23 days without sleeping in the car however if needs must!

Lots of Love and Toffee loving to you all...

how do folks...Yorkshire calling...

I am currently sat in J on Shanks's living room in Brompton having layed in Derbyshire and Yorkshire in the last two days. Ashbourne Golf Club in Derbyshire was a really good day. On arrival I was greeted by John Hammond the club secretary. i was early so I had a cup of tea in the bar and chated to some of the members. I was playing on my own so cracked on...my first imperession of the course was that it was very immature...the greens wern't in good nick as they had been hollow tined just this week. There were some very interesting holes and will be a cracking course in 20 years. I played well and enjoyed the course despite the wind blowing...afterwards in the clubhouse chatting some more with the members and discovered that the old golf pro at the club Mick Grundy sadly past away from Leukaemia approximately 12 years ago...the guys at the club do there bit with raising money for the Anthony Nolan trust and they have a a charity golf day in september in memory of Mick and I said I would do my best to get back up there and join them! They really were a lovely bunch of guys and it ws a pleasure to meet them all. Thanks to them for making me feel so welcome!
I then travelled to Leeds to stay with Chad Smith...we went out for a few drinks bfore I played day 22 and Bentham Golf Club jst off the Yorkshire dales! had a nice day despite a cloudy head...eary start and not enough sleep. I am now about to get to bed and have a good night sleep in preperation for day 23 and Durham City Golf Club!I'm looking forward to being nice and refreshed tomorrow! I will be writing from Newcastle tomorrow.why I mun!

Thanks to Chad Smith, Jon Shanks and Vicki B (feeling poorly!) and all that have helped me so far!

Much love

More fun time pics...

Not such Christian bounces in Rutland...

Hi everyone...first of all I want to say thanks to everyone that has donated so far..if you anyone that hasn't donated yet please boot them up their posteria and tell them to get their aforementioned poseteria in gear!!!! Donations have stalled and I'm not happy!!! I don't want to have to drive all the way back from the midlands to woop sone ass!

I played Rutland County Gold Club on Tuesday...wioth Christian Jones again! For those of you that know him you will now see he has a burnt bald head instead of just a bald head...cosmetics eh mate...use tanning bed next time..you'll get a more even covering on there!

I got to the club at 12 as they agreed to feed me before my round. I had lasagne and chips and sat down with the director of golf George Lowe. George is the father of Simone who I have been in correspndence with. Unforunately Simone wasn't there but George was very accomodating and we had a good chat before Chris and I cracked on with the golf!

We started on the 1st with a fairly brisk easterly wind...not so much that it was a hinderence but we definately had to think about it. The sun was fairly consistently doffing his hat as it appeared every so often.

I kept my score and we had a little matchplay competition between us...he beat me very comfortably in Leicestershire the day before but I put that down to home advantage.

The first nine holes it was tight both playing some good golf (with of course the speradic nonsense golf that I love so much!) and by the time we reached the turn...(the 9th) it was all square. The highlight I think was the par 5 7th where we took a video of my tee shot! explained that with my slicey tee shot that I was going to have to aim over the out of bounds fence and somewhere in the direction of Norfolk...needless to say with the camera running I hit it deep in to Norwich town centre!!! I will put the vidoe on the blog for you all to see. Once on the green though...Chris sunk a 20ft putt for par...good job it was on target though as it was travelling at some rate of knots(not sure if spelt correctly) and might well have ended up on the A1 (the great north road Chris...!!!!). I also shelled (golfing speak for holed) a long putt...however due to my errant tee shot was only for a 6!

The front nine also highlighted to us the inland links style of "not so Christian bounces" as we both were on the recieving end of a cruel bounce or two!

On the 7th we discovered a bench...and about 20 yards from the bench was dustbin so we attempted to take a picture with the timer...after a couple of attempts we managed a virtually perfect pic...both crossing legs and looking very stylish (especially me and my Shingo Hat) again I will put on blog.

It wasn't until the 17th when we had a winner...and it wasn't me...god damn it! Chris won with a hole to spare and it wasn't until the 18th where I played my best golf! A tee shot down the left followed by a precision 7 iron to within 6 feet of the pin. Whilst I was doing this Chris was building sandcastles in the green side bunker! Guess what....I missed the putt! not to worry though we had a very enjoyable round and of course a pint afterwards!!

I said my fairwells to George and Chris and went on my way up the A1 to Lincoln Golf Club for day 19.

On arrival I greeted by Derek Linton..the secretary of the club and he introduced me to Ashley Carter the golf pro. The course was very busy as they had a club competition and also 28 person society day as well so I teamed up with another memember that was playing on his own, Graham Wittle. We wondered round together fairly slowly...he was 73 and there were also a million and one four balls infront of us!

The course itself was in excellent condition...and talking to the locals afterwards it is regarded as one of the best courses in the area so I was pleased that my "pot luck" pick of Lincolnshire golf courses was a successful one! The greens were very quick and it was great to play with Graham as he told me the tricks of the course...where to be and, in the words of Bill Shakespeare I think, where not to be!

I had a cracking day at Lincoln...very friendly club...great course and clement weather! Oh and good sangers as well!

After the round I checked into a little B&B near to the course as I only had a short drive to Nottinhamshire for day 20!

Not really much to say about Sherwood Forest...I didn't see Robin Hood which I was dissapointed about...however I thought I saw Maid Marion canoodling in the Bushes...Robin might have been there but I reckon she was having an affair with Little John! Very wet and miserable day so I'm really looking forward to Day 21 at Ashbourne Golf Club in Derbyshire...I've just checked the forecast and is looking better!

I'm currently at my brothers house in Leicester as it's only 45 minutes form Ashbourne so I can have a good nights sleep and some friendly faeces oops...faces!!

Get people donating please tell evertone you know...friends family...remember if 75,000 peeps donate £1 I'll reach my target!!!!Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!

Lots of Love and Maid Marion smooches...

Pics of Kilworth Springs...

Bevan, Jones and bevan do Kilworth...

Good evening to you all...

Today was day 17 and inching ever closer to the halfway point of my tour. I was in Kilworth Springs Golf Club in Leicestershire. I was joined today by my brother Tom and a friedn of his Not so Christian Jones. After playing the previous to days on my own or with strangers it was a pleasant change to have some familiar company, especially seeing as the next ten days or so might be a little lonely!

My brother tom isn't actually a golfer so he walked the course with us and was our designated camera man...we taught him some of the golfing lingo along the way...

We started at 12.28 with Chris and I playing and Tom watching and learning intently!

The 1st hole was a warm up for us both but after that we played some steady golf on the front 9...On the 10th however something flicked a switch in my brain that made me play soemthing other than golf...i'm not sure what is was but it was somewhere in the region of hurling and cricket...my ability (that's presuming I had some to start with) to hit off the tee dissapeared and my general ball striking was terrible. Chris however was getting steadier and steadier which was good to see as he hadn't played in about a year.

The weather was lovely again and I was minus the sunglasses so I managed to recreate the tan on my arms on my face!always nice to have an even tan!

After the game which tom tooks some good pictures and vidoes of we had a beer and then I headed back to Naseby so I could get some grub and a relaxing evening...

Tomorrow is the halfway point the the county of Rutland...Simone at Rutland County Golf Club has been very helpful to me in preperations for the tour so I am looking forward to meeting her and playing the course. There is a chance that Christian might be able to play with me again so that would be good!

I will now put some pics of today on the blog!

Take care.

Wet wet wet and cold cold Cold Ashby...

Hi everyone...

I woke up this morning aftter having some ferocious dreams about war and general nastiness and looked out the window and I saw that the day I had been waiting with baited breath for had finally come...rain rain and more rain!!! The wind was blowing as well however I was aware that My sister lives on top of a hill so this might account for the extra wind!!!

I got up, put some trousers and I thought about leavin' the house...(sorry couldn't resist getting some britpop lyrics in here somewhere!) I had some breakfast and hung the mountains of washing I had done out to dry. whilst doing these fun chores quickly checking every so often outside to see if the rain had abated...it hadn't so I put another pair of trousers (waterproofs) over the first pair and jumped in the car for the 9 minute car journey to Cold Ashby Golf Club.

On arrival I was greeted in the pro shop by a fairly grumpy guy that wasn't in the faintest bit interested in what I was doing however he checked me in and I was on my way on day 16!!!

Cold ashby is one of the types of golf courses that actually has 27 holes...now for you lay people out there one doesn't play all of these...and i was put on holes 19 to 27 for the first 9 holes and 1 to 9 for the second nine. By the time I started the rain was really coming down and I had full waterproofs on for the first time on the tour! It was refreshing to start with however my glove soon got wet and so did my feet...my waterproofs were begging for mercy after the round!!!

The first thing that struck me about the course is how hilly it was...It really was the hardest walk of the tour so far...so hard that at one point I felt lilke I had time travelled back to when I was 13 doing D of E (Duke of Edinburgh) on Dartmoor!!! I have taken a video which I will pop on here soon...I'm not sure if the video will do the hill justice but it was quite a walk I can tell you...the only savig grace I felt was that it was easier to climb the hill knowing that I had my waiting for me on the other side!

The conditions were genrally pretty rotten and the course looked like it had been beaten somewhat in the winter so I don't feel like I met this golf course on top form however I did enjoy it nonetheless...I shot 88 and that is using....wait for it Matt...yes a 3 wood...I thought this club has been sat in my bag for years and I've never had the kahoonas to use it so I gave it a whirl...and believe it or not it didn't go too badly! Having said that if I shot 120 then you would probably be seeing that particular flying past your window anytime now!!!

After the Golf I had a beer and a sandwich in the clubhouse and after discussing the finer points of the inside of a golf ball with some of the members I was on my way. I probably won't think back to this leg of the tour to fondly due to the weather, however it was a good test of golf and I did enjoy it.

Tomorrow I am excited about as I have my brother joining me and some of his friends so should be great fun...I just hope the weather improves...

Lot of Love

East Anglia reporting...

Hello everyone!

I am speaking to you guys from my sister's house again after playing legs 14 and 15...Suffolk and Norfolk respectively. On Friday I played Rushmere Golf Club just outside Ipswich in Suffolk...this was a heathland style course which is actually public property. This is an added hazard as you can be preparing to take a shot and then 4 old ladies will promptly stumble across the upcoming fairway...it was the start of the bank holiday weekend so it was to be expected! The course itself was very different to most of the courses I have played! the ground was very hard and the ball ran on a long way on the fairways...this was also the same on the greens and one had to take a more "links" stlye approach to each shot...effectively leaving the ball a few yards short and letting the extra run take the ball up to the green...that was the theory anyway!!! I couldn't blog yesterday due to being in a hotel in Norwich and the internet was £7 for 30mins!!!!so I am writing this for two days. I played the round on friday with two sets of people...first of all I started with a gentleman called Ray and a Lady called Allison...the course was usy and they asked me to join for there round as they were only playing 9 holes.I gratefully accepted and enjoyed there company. the weather was again stunning and I really caught sun on my arms..i have a partcularly white left hand at the moment! The second half of the round I joined with a young 11 year old called jordan and his Grandfather John. I especailly enjoyed their company as It was a pleasure to see a John teaching the young lad the tricks of the trade. He only recently recieved his handicap and I'm positive that it will be reduced in no time at all! I had a photo taken of Jordan and I taken by John which i will put on the blog tomorrow. I played pretty steady all the way around, i felt I wasn't striking the ball as well as I had the previous few days...this might be due the heathland fairways...lots of faeces!!!!

Today i have done 200 miles driving from Suffolk to Northamtonshire via Norwich...and I have just played my favourite golf course! Eaton Golf Club...from start to finish it was an absoloute pleasure! The second hole is a par 3 that you drive over a gully with a 13 ft bunker lined with railway sleepers! I felt like I was in a Mark Twain novel! I went in the bunker and thought I was going to spend a good half an hour in there trying to get the ball out...however to my suprise I got out first time and putted for a par! Being a saturday it was very busy so it was a very slow round...lots of waiting on tees and fairways...probably too much time to contemplate each shot!!!moggy would hate it! however I felt the extra time helped me. I met some nice blokes on the tee as well giving me tips on the best spot to be after my drive! I also played the best golf I have done on the tour so far. I shot and 80 which is six shots better than my previous best! This probably added to the enjoyment of the course but It really was nice...I recommend it to anyone that travels to Norwich...a little hidden gem!!

After the golf I went to thank Peter Johns the club manager for donating the game and went on my way. I travelled back to ratby in Leicestershire where my brother Tom lives with his wife charlotte. They Had two and half tabererererers round for a curry so I joined them!

I am now at my sister's house...I'm playing Cold Ashby Golf Club which nicely is just 2 miles from here so I can catch a few more Z's tomorrow morning!!!

Right I'm off for a bath and a good nights kip!!!

speak to you all soon!

Willx

P.S excuse spelling and grammar I'm a tired little bunny!!!! (see what I did there!)xx

anyone want to join me?

wilber_bevan@hotmail.com

underscore between wilber and bevan.

The Government are doing a great job...

I checked the weather forecast last night and they said that it was going to be showering heavily and 20mph winds! balderdash that's all I can say. it rained over night and by the time I hit my first shot in anger the rain had all gone. It was grey...but grey I can handle!
Today for leg 13 I was in Cambridgeshire playing Lakeside Lodge Golf Club. As the name suggests it is a golf club...at the side of a lake, however the lake doesn't actually come into play that much. there are other smaller stretches of water that can catch the odd eronius tee shot!

Today I played with Pat Synan. He is my flatmates uncle and lives just a stones throw from the golf course. It was a pleasure having his company as due to the inclement grey weather it might have been a lonely round if he hadn't joined me!

There was another quizzical look on the lads in the pro shops face as there was sign of me on the tee sheets...I think the reason for this was that there was actually nobody else playing golf today...we actually had the course to ourselves which was nice as all the other days we have been held up somewhat...not that we were in a rush it's just nice to get into a rythmn and hold ups don't help that!

The 1st was a shortish par 5. I hit two good shots to the edge of the green and two putted for a 6 at the first. Nice not to blob the 1st as I have done too many times on the tour so far! I then parred two of the next three and then I started playing baseball off the tee again! My driving left me and all I can say is I'm glad I drove better on the way home on the A14 otherwise there would've been trouble! by the 14th it was working better again and I parred four in a row and finished with a 7th par at the last. No birdies or eagles today but nice steady except in the middle off the tee!

As I told you earlier in the blog before this one i lost my phone last night! I don't really know what happened but I think it fell out of my pocket in a taxi...very annoying and incovenient but after the initial rage...swearing and thumping my head I realised that although what I am doing at the moment is hard work and physically demanding it really is the best holiday I could ever imagine. I'm meeting really fun interesting people along the way...finding the best in people as so many people having been so kind in letting me borrow sofa's...beds...food...tea and so forth! I'm blessed to be on this earth still and have so many friends and family that are happy to help me and I don't want to let a little thing like losing a mobile phone stuff up my good mood!

I would like to say thanks to Pat for playing with me today and offering me dinner and a bed...I chose to travel to my big sisters house and have just enjoyed the a lovely plate of chilli con carne...which i think translates as Chilli with Meat?...nice. Thanks Johanna!

I am teeing off at 11am at Rushmere Golf Club tomorrow for day 14 in suffolk! Looking forward to it.

I'm going to whatch some the Masters golf and then get an early night....oh and possibly a bath to rest my weary bones. One more thing...if anyone knows someone that wants to give a charity fundraiser a massage then please let me know!!! I could really do with one!haha!

Take care everyone.

Blowing a hooley in Bedfordshire...

Hello to you all...I played alone for the first time in my golf tour today. I thought it was going to be lonely however it wasn't. I had a really enjoyable relaxed round of golf walking around without a care in the world! The weather forecast was again terrible but when I woke at 7.30 there wasn't a cloud in the sky! A few clouds did emerge in the morning before I reached the golf club and there was a brisk breeze but it was sunny for most of the day! This was the 1/3 point of my tour and now I am starting to play some consistent golf! Today despite the wind I was driving the ball as straight as I have done. Several of the holes were down wind which was nice but some were into the wind which was very testing as the wind was as strong as I have experienced on the tour so far! I started on the 10th hole due to a seniors competition off the 1st and got that little white ball in the hole in 5 shots which Matt will tell is very reasonable considering the dreaded 1st tee nerves I suffer from! The rest of the round was very steady and did some heavy scoring on the two hardest holes...one of which was a downwind par 5 which I birdied! I also chipped in at the par 3 13th for a two so two birdies is very pleasing! The round did go down hill a touch at the end. The final two holes which were actually the 8th and 9th were directly into the wind so playing a lot longer! I finished the round in 86 shots which is my best to date. I also managed to smash one of drives onto the 100yard marker on the fairway! the photo is just above this blog!

Seeing as it's a third of the way through the tour here is an update of my scores so far...

PAR MY SCORE STABLEFORD POINTS
Cornwall 70 101 25
Devon 71 95 31
Dorset 72 94 34
Wiltshire 98 98 31
Hampshire 70 104 19
Surrey 71 102 25
Sussex 72 98 30
Kent 71 95 32
Essex 72 91 37
Hertfordshire 71 90 37
Buckinghamshire 71 89 38
Bedfordshire 70 86 40

There is a slow but steady improvement which is good! only 3 pars todat but 2 birdies as opposed to Buckinghamshire where I got no birdies but 7 pars!

Tomorrow is day 13 and Lakeside Lodge in Cambridgeshire where I am playing with Ashley my flatmates uncle, Pat Synan.

There are some more pics of me today!!! and I will put a video up on facebook for those technologists that are that advanced!!!

Much love to you all!

Rain was forecast...but never came...

What a weird day...for the first day of the tour I found it very difficult to get up this morning! My alarm went off and I did the usual snooze thing we all do...but my eyes felt tired! Today we were teeing off at 10 o'clock at Buckingham Golf Club. We left at 8.30 to get there in good time however my geography let me down somewhat!!! We left Luton and Kenny(the tomtom man) said that he wanted me to go North on the M1 and my internal Sat Nav wanted to go south...Kenny the genius that he is was correct. We were then on our way adn besides a bit of ruch hour traffic we got there in good time. This was the first time on the tour that I don't think the golf club were completely expecting us...I think there was a case of the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing...but in the end phonecalls were made and we were allowed to tee off at just after 10. I did feel a little doubt in the back of my head for the first few holes...I felt like the People at the golf club might have been questioning my motives but after hald an hour or so I came to the conclusion that they ran a business and If every TomTom, Dick and Harry treid to blag a free round they wouldn't probably be a business anymore!

The course looked in excellent knick and the 1st hole was quite a picture...an elevated tee moving sharply downwards to a gully stroke ravine then leading up to the green. Once on the green Matt and I realised that the greens were most probably the slowest we have played so far. The greens at East Herts Golf Club yesterday were excellent so this was a little strange to get used to. Matt certainly got used them quicker...in fact I think I got used to them on the 18th green! the first three holes were ones to forget for me...me putting it down to the questions being asked in the clubhouse. After then I went on a good run of a birdie and 3 pars to settle down a bit. Matt was hitting very well off the tee however every so often there would be a dodgy shot...he shot very well again and doing himself no chance of ridding himself of bandit status...

I shot the best of the tour so far but felt like I didn't...there is much more to come! After the golf we had a beer and then I drove to St Albans to drop Matt off at the station as he is leaving me... The lone ranger...(that's me) will soldier on however!

As you can tell by the title of this blog the weather forecast wasn't very good for today and tomorrow however today was really as pleasant a day as we have had so I thank the government for that (see earlier blog for reference)...let's hope tomorrow is the same.

Bedfordshire leg tomorrow...and day 12 (a third of my way around) = 1200miles of driving...70km of walking(that's just the golf courses) and 198 holes of golf...

Speak to you tomorrow...

P.S if you havn't already done so please forward this blog to your entire email contacts!!!! thank you very much!!!!

By Matty!!!see you at the Belfry!!!

Hello everyone...
I am writing this on day 10 of my golf tour!I am currently in Luton with the Synan Jones family...Ashley my flatmate who I live with in Surbiton's family. They have very kindly put me and Matt up for the night! Today we travelled from Surbiton up to East Herts Golf Club Nr Buntingford in Hertfordshire. This really was a great course. The club house was minimal and only had the essentials... loo... bar... however the golf course looked in cracking knick considering it was early in the season and the winter had taken it's toll! Matt was intent on doing evrything he could to beat me today! When we arrived at just before 10am there was a society day and that included 14 women teeing off the 1st so the young lad in the proshop very kindly suggested we start at the 13th meaning we would then finish at the 13th. matt and I were both on the green for three however I three putted much to my disgust so I finished with a six and Matt parred! The next few holes were mine and by the time we reached the 5th... it was a very competetive. we were both on 12 stableford points and the slating was hotting up! coming up the 5th which was a par 5 we were both left with short chips to the green. I chipped on to within 10ft and Matt sublimely knocked his chip in for an eagle 3...that's ten rounds of golf we have played and one eagle each!!! what pro's we are!
After that I was playing steady golf and playing the best I have done on the tour so far. Matt had a run of holes that he didn't par so he was begging for a par!which he duly got! I thumped a drive up the 10th leaving myself a 20 yard chip. I thought the green was there for the taking however I failed to see a hidden bunker...my only bunker of the day and i failed to get up and down for par!
Matt won...I played under my handicap again and there is more to come!!!
I hope you enjoy the photos. I can only upload four or five at a time so will keep them coming!
A big thanks to the Synan Jones's for putting us up!
Buckinghamshire is next! remember let me know If you want to join me as Matt leaves me tomorrow so I will be going solo!!!
Be safe...
Will and Mattxx

Sorry for the delay...internet access at a premium...

Hi Everyone...

We have had problems the last few days getting internet access so apologies for the rubbish blogging! Last time I was with you Matt and I had just finished in Wiltshire. From there we stayed with Steve Gotting (my uncle). On wednesday we played North Hants golf club with Ben Gotting and Ayoola Erinle...the Leicester Tigers centre. It was a beautiful day with perfect playing conditons! Matt played excellently in partnership with Ayoola. I played with Ben and unfortunately wasn't in the best of form! Matt and Ayoola won with some hefty if somewhat fortunate golf...one particular shot from ayoola on a par three which never left the ground but finished 4ft form the pin! Ben made a comment on the 16th saying that he thought there wasn't a tree on the golf course that either me or Ayoola hadn't hit! He wasn't far off. I want to say a special thanks to Ayoola for joining us and Ben and Steve Gotting for putting me up and their continual support of me and the tour in general.

After North Hants Golf Club we travelled back to my flat in Surbiton in preparation for the Charity dinner at Tryst Restaurant and Bar...45 people were invited and with exception of some late replacements all turned up! I had a fantastic time and the response I have had from those that have got in touch has been the same. We raised £610 for the kitty so good work to all that attended!

On Thursday Matt and I were joined for the Surrey leg with Ray Barwick...Father of Katy Croft former PR lady for the Tryst. We played Hampton Court Palace Golf Club. The weather again was superb...the course was a very easy walk which was nice. Matt again played well and after finding my touch around the green played steady. It was a pleasure to have Ray's company as the banter was thick and fast. We then went back to the flat for a chill out and an early night in preparation for the Sussex leg.

The Sussex leg was day 7 of the golf tour. This brought us to Mannings Heath Golf Club Nr Horsham. Todat Matt and I were joined by Maurice East...Son in Law to my mother's former consultant John Richardson. Again it was an absolute pleasure to have Maurice join us...not only was he an excellent golfer but the chat and general smack talk was all good fun. Maurice also coined the phrase Bandit Bettridge as Matt absoloutely tore the course apart...playing off 17, he shot 11 over par - 6 under his handicap! Well done to Matt...I was steadily getting more consistent and was playing well off the tee. It just seems that one bad shot on most holes was meaning I was getting 6's instead of 5's which doesn't look so good on the scorecard. After the game we had a beer at the 19th before heading back to Surbiton. It was Hotel Bosco's first birthday party that evening and I felt the need to show my face...only for a while of course...well...maybe more than a while. Matt and I might have had one too many Brandy's as our heads the next day were a little fuzzy!!!!

Saturday and Grand National day was a special day for me for more than those reasons. It was day 8 of the golf tour and we were playing at Lydd Golf Club in Kent, a tricky links style course where the wind normally blows hard! Saturday was also the anniversary of my father David's death...it did happen to fall on Grand National day which was apt as Dad always liked a flutter on the National. We both played steady golf in tricky conditions and for the first time I came out on top! After the game we stopped for a brisk orange juice and lemonade before haeding into Ashford to place our bets for the National...My bet "My Will" came in third, however I failed two months ago, when I placed the bet, to put it on each way! Matt's horse Knowhere came...nowhere! We then travelled up the M20 under the Dartford tunnel and up the M25 to Essixxx where we stayed in a very reasonable hotel for the night. The weather at this point is still excellent and I am waiting to get punished one of the days coming.

Once in Essex we travelled to Stockbrook Golf and Country Club near Billericay...a stunning club with fantastic banquetting and hospitality facilties. We explained that we had nowhere to stay and as they had no rooms there they recommended and gave us a beer on the house!

Today...which is now sunday evening after playing Stockbrook Manor...as I said before it was a stunning course with lovely greens and millions of bunkers...most of them one of us managed to find! Things finally clicked for me today...after a few practice putts before we went out played the 1st. Matt found a horrible trap by the green and I was on in three and sank a 15ft putt. Par to start is always nice and I played pretty steady all the way round with some good shots in between. I shot one under my handicap and beat Matt again...much to his disgust as he is sat next to me currently saying.."I'm not concerned about playing well tomorrow... I just want to beat you!" Nice guy!

Anyway i promise to keep in touch more regularly...remember If there is anyone you know that would like to join me please look at the intinerary and let me know!

Thanks for reading this...be safe and be happy! As I am...just probably going to get more tired along the way...I won't stop smiling though!

East Herts Golf Club tomorrow...speak to you then!
